A bit about Cathy…

I believe that students need to be pushed in every single class they have with me. For most people, they can only manage to attend one Chinese lesson per week so in this one class I will make the class as intense and information-packed as possible to challenge my students. You are responsible for your own learning and progression so you will decide yourself how much time outside the class to spend on revising the content from that intense Chinese session. I am here to instruct, deliver, and inspire. Think of me as your personal trainer at the gym. After a training session, it is up to you to eat well and sleep well to maximise your gains. With that being said, I am very patient and determined that every single student will learn something new from my class every week.

Some cool things she’s done so far: (and still continues to do)

  • Collaborated with major Chinese sports corporations and major sports venues in Australia (Melbourne and Sydney) to provide consecutive interpreting services

  • Mandarin company lessons, Mandarin and Cantonese group lessons, Mandarin and Cantonese private lessons

  • Mandarin and Cantonese Children’s classes (group and one-on-one)

  • Taught Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 EAL/D at Rose Bay Secondary College

  • Taught Year 8 and 10 Beginners and Advanced Chinese at Kingsgrove North High School

  • Taught preschool and primary school children Beginner and Intermediate Mandarin at Ferncourt Public School

  • Coached the UNSW non-background Chinese debate team to compete against the ANU non-background debate team

  • Worked on the ACYA (Australia-China Youth Association) Education Subcommittee and organised a large number of educational events and workshops at UNSW
